Maryland Governor Wes Moore sits down with Bakari Sellers for a wide-ranging conversation about leadership, governing and what it means to actually fight for the people you represent.
Moore explains why he never set out to become a politician and why he believed governor was the job where he could make the biggest difference. He talks about his administration’s work around child poverty, public safety, Black-owned businesses, HBCUs and opportunities for Black men and boys, along with the lessons learned responding to the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.
Bakari and Governor Moore also dig into the current political moment and what Democrats can learn from it. Moore makes the case that being a fighter doesn’t mean spending all day fighting with Donald Trump. It means showing people what you’re willing to fight for.
They also discuss his military service and “leave no one behind” philosophy, his veto of Maryland’s reparations study bill, the growing debate around data centers, family and marriage, and how the country may need to rethink what comes next after the Trump era.
Plus, Bakari asks Wes Moore directly about 2028 and whether he sees himself playing a larger role in the future of the Democratic Party.
